Get to Know Captain John

I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, and I’ve been fishing these rivers and lakes for over 40 years. I’ve seen them calm, I’ve seen them wild, and I’ve learned something from just about every day out there.

Good fishing days aren’t random. They come from paying attention — to the wind, the current, water temperature, light, and timing. Around Niagara, things can change quickly, so you have to be willing to adjust right along with it.

For the past six years, I’ve been guiding anglers across these waters, building each trip around what’s happening that day. We focus on the species that makes sense, fish the water that gives us the best opportunity, and make smart adjustments as we go. Sometimes we move. Sometimes we fine-tune depth and speed. Sometimes we stay patient and let it develop.

The approach is simple:
Pay attention.
Stay adaptable.
Fish the right water.

Fishing around the world — from Africa and the Indian Ocean to the Caribbean and Western Canada — reinforced that mindset. Different places, different species, same lesson: preparation and awareness matter.

That same approach carries into every trip I run here at home.

I’m also a single dad to three great kids, so safety, patience, and clear communication are important to me — on and off the water. Whether you’re bringing your family, visiting Niagara, or you’ve fished your whole life, I keep the atmosphere relaxed, welcoming, and pressure-free.

I’m fully licensed and insured in Ontario with all required marine certifications. I also bring more than 25 years as a licensed insurance broker, which means I pay close attention to planning, weather, and managing risk carefully.

There are no gimmicks here — just dependable gear, thoughtful preparation, and a genuine effort to give you a great experience.

At the end of the day, I want you to enjoy your time on the water, learn something along the way, and head home with a memory that sticks.
